Ingrid Matschke > The Hay Plain, half way between Adelaide and Sydney. It doesn't get much flatter.
Ingrid Matschke > This scene reminded me of Mad Max. It was taken just out of Pt Augusta and had that abandoned 'futuristic movie' feel about it.
Ingrid Matschke > Sydney Harbour and city as the backdrop.
Ingrid Matschke > Sunset at Largs Bay, an Adelaide city beach.
Ingrid Matschke > Sunset on the Murray near Renmark (SA). It had been the hottest day in like 72 years and we were glad to see the end of it. I think it got to 45 degrees. You can see the intensity of the dying heat in the clouds.
Ingrid Matschke > Somewhere between the WA border and Perth. I liked the effect of the patchwork on the ground. No buildings for miles but plenty of farmland.
Ingrid Matschke > The latest and greatest in opal mining equipment. Coober Pedy, South Australia. The richest suburb in the country.
Ingrid Matschke > This is the longest fence in the world. It starts in SW Queensland and finishes on the Great Australian Bight. It was built to stop the dingoes attacking the stock in sheep country and is regularly checked and repaired to make sure there are no gaps in it.
Ingrid Matschke > This is Lake Hart in the South Australian outback between Pt Augusta and Coober Pedy. When the lake evaporates, there's nothing left but crystalised salt and it goes for miles .... right over the horizon... the flattest landscape you'll ever see. This shoreline shot was included to give some perspective to the nothingness.
